Vasuda Sharma, who broke into the music scene in 2003 with the pop group Aasma, has been selected from 420 musicians, including renowned Indian bands like Demonic Resurrection, Junkyard Groove and Shkabang, to open the Popkomm Music Festival 2010, in Berlin Vasudha uses a loop station, and some prerecorded samples of her voice, hand percussion and the guitar, and then do a bit of beatboxing, accompanying it with a couple of instruments, to create a whole live music setup,” she explains. “I’ve also been jamming with different instruments...

I wanted to showcase that I’m a one-woman band.” Sharma, who will make her debut as a composer with Makarand Deshpande’s Shahrukh Bola Khoobsurat Hai Tu, is hoping to explore international labels at the festival for a private album. “I have a 40 minute performance, and I want to make the most of it by adding both Indian and western elements to my songs. I may even do an accapella version of a patriotic song! I just want to make Berlin groove to my music.”

Part proceeds will be donated to Ogaan Cancer Foundation - ELLE Breast Cancer Campaign (India).
